This week we focused on the color green (last week was Red). We pulled out all of their green toys, painted with green paint, found all the green items at the store, wore green clothes, and had a green meal or two. I had planned to make green play dough, but didn’t get around to it. Oh, well.
They’re getting to where I no longer have to ask them what color something is, they will shout out a guess (right or wrong) as soon as they see something new. The most hilarious was when they were pointing out colors at their great-grandmother’s house, then Lucas pointed to her hair and said “White!” We all burst out laughing.
Kyla also got a spontaneous lesson in making potato salad. She woke up well before Lucas did from her nap, so I enlisted her help to make dinner. She put the potatoes into the pot as I cut them, and after they were cooked she spooned in the mayo and helped squeeze the pickle relish bottle.
And for the first time I pulled out the Melissa & Doug Beginner Pattern Blocks that they got for their birthday. Lucas loves them.
Kyla prefers to steal the circles and drive her brother crazy.
Overall, a pretty good week. I’m still debating on what color we’ll be doing next.
